You've just downloaded your images, so let’s talk about the best ways to protect your images long-term. Those images hold some of your most meaningful memories, but now comes the part most people don’t think about: how to keep them safe. I'm telling you this as a mom of 5. Your photos are priceless. You NEED a storage plan to them so that you don't lose them.

Tip 1: Save in More Than One Place

The biggest mistake people make is keeping their photos in only one spot, on their phone. Your phone is a great place to enjoy your images, just not the safest place to keep them. Phones are meant for access and sharing, not long-term preservation. Protecting your photos means storing them in more than one secure place. Devices fail. Phones get lost. Hard drives crash (mine did 2 years ago). That's why it so important to save your images in 3 places.

3–2–1 Rule:

  3 copies of your photos

  2 different types of storage

    1 copy off-site, cloud storage

Your phone is convenient, but it isn’t a safe place to store your images long-term. Here’s why.

Phones are wonderful, but they’re not designed to be permanent storage for irreplaceable memories. Devices get damaged, upgraded, or wiped far more often than we realize — which is why a backup systems matter. These are by far the best storage options and why you should use a combination of them:

Clear labels now will save you so much time later when you’re searching for that one photo you need.

I save mine by year and then create folders for images throughout the year. I find it the easiest way to locate images I need.
