Older newborn sessions simply look a little different and are just as meaningful.

There’s a lot of talk around the “ideal” time for newborn photos. You know the one most photographers capture within those first couple of weeks when babies are extra sleepy, extra curly, and oh-so squishy. And while that stage is undeniably beautiful… it’s not the only way to capture your baby.

Here’s the truth, just because you missed that window doesn’t mean you missed your chance.

As your baby grows, they begin to wake up to the world around them. Their eyes open a little longer. They start to focus on your face. There’s more curiosity, more connection, more personality beginning to peek through.

You might not get as many curled-up, sleepy poses, but what you do get is something equally special: Eye contact, personality, and little glimpses of who they are becoming.

There’s something incredibly powerful about capturing your baby looking right at you. Those moments where they seem to recognize your voice, your touch, your presence—that’s magic in its own way.

Yes, they may be a little less squishy…

But they are just as sweet.

And your story? It’s still worth documenting—exactly as it is, right now.

So if you’re sitting there thinking you missed your chance, let this be your sign:

You didn’t.

Your baby is ready. And I promise, there is still so much beauty to capture.
