Massachusetts Family Photographer

Hello! I'm a family photographer located in Western MA. I'm a mom of 5 littles and very much look forward to family photos every year. We recently took a family road trip down to Florida. With this being our family's first big trip, I wanted to make sure I documented that. So began my search for the perfect family photographer!. I thought I'd share some tips with you how as a photographer myself, found the right one! Let me tell you, I'm absolutely in love with our images too!

Ask your friends and family who they have used and loved. People are always happy to recommend photographers they know and trust! This gives you few names to start your online research. Look at their social media profiles, website and read reviews.

LOOK AT THIER PORTFOLIO! This is the most important. You should love what you see in their portfolio. This includes their editing style, location of shoots and posing of families. Look at the outfits, do they look like they've been guided in their clothing choices?

Do you like their editing style? Look to see if the photographer a variety of families editing style you love. A photographers editing style is how they define their art. If you like bold vibrant colors, don't choose a photographer that shows light and airy images. Choose a photographer that has an editing style you love! If you don't, then keep looking.

Look at how they pose their families. There are different styles of family photography. Some photographers are very formal with their posing. Everyone is looking at the camera, nicely posed, hair in place. If this is what you are looking for for your own family images, this is what you look for in their work. If you want images of your family in your home, you might want to search for a documentary family photographer. If you want to capture more emotion and connection you want a lifestyle family photographer. Did you know that there were so many types of family photography? Make sure you see what you're looking for in their portfolio.

Experience. Consider the photography experience and their ability to work with children of different ages. Do they offer posing guidance during your session? A style guide? Is there a variety of families in their portfolio? Does your photographer have the proper licensing and insurance, a contract outlining terms of services and deliverables? It might sound silly to have a contract but it protects you too. Make sure you find a photographer you feel a connection with and believe they can capture your family authentically.
