{Crayon Melting}

We have found so many fun things to do this last week. This one was great! We had a scavenger hunt to find ALL the broken crayons in the house. I was honestly surprised there wasn't more! If you want a way to keep your children entertained, ask them to peel crayons. This took us an hour to do. We tried to break them up as small as we could but some of the bigger crayons I cut up. I purchased a silicone mold off of amazon. There are so many options out there. I bought a new one for this project because the crayon will stain it, and I'm not sure I would want to use it for baking after that. We separated the crayons by color (get exercise for the littles still learning their colors) and then placed the pieces in the mold. I thought about adding glitter, but I didn't feel like that mess! We then melted them in the oven at 250º for 15-18 minutes until all the chunks were all melted. This was a great easy way to upcycle or broken crayons and make something new and different to use. It took them about an hour to cool on the counter before we used them.
ENJOY!
